SNC-Lavalin in Australia focuses on providing professional services to the mining and mineral processing sector and is part of the global SNC-Lavalin group, an international leader in engineering and construction projects.
In 1999 SNC-Lavalin set up offices in Australia forming SNC-Lavalin Australia Pty Ltd and has since undertaken a number of projects locally and internationally via the Australian based business. The Australian business unit has recently undergone a change of leadership and is embarking on a new era of growth and activity with a strong focus on maximising mining and metallurgical opportunities including appurtenant infrastructure within Australia and for Australian based clients operating internationally. SNC-Lavalin operates from offices in Perth, Western Australia and Brisbane, Queensland, and from project offices as required.
SNC-Lavalin in Australia is part of the Australasian region of SNC-Lavalin and also operates from offices in Jakarta, Indonesia and Noumea, New Caledonia. The Australasian region is part of the SNC-Lavalin Group which is Canada’s largest engineering and construction company, and is also a major player internationally in the ownership and management of infrastructure. On 11 April 2011 the company celebrated its birthday which was a monumental moment in its history. Employees in SNC-Lavalin’s offices around the world will be marking the centennial throughout the year with various activities.
Founded in Montreal in 1911, the Company started out as a one-man engineering consulting office with one client. Today it has grown to be one of the world’s largest engineering/construction firms with 24,000 employees in offices across Canada and in over 35 other countries around the world. At any given time its employees are working on thousands of projects in some 100 countries. In 2010, it earned revenues of $6.3 billion and a net income of $437 million.
SNC-Lavalin has grown and evolved to a remarkable extent over the last hundred years. It has world renowned expertise in numerous sectors of activity and extensive experience in hundreds of countries. It is also one of very few companies in the world that can cover the entire life cycle of a project. It has the know-how and resources to design, build, operate, maintain, and even arrange project financing, for facilities and infrastructure anywhere in the world.
