Medicine Bow Fuel & Power Project - USA

DKRW Advanced Fuels, headquartered in Houston, Texas and SNC‐Lavalin formed an alliance to develop, design and construct a number of coal to liquid fuel projects each valued in excess of a billion dollars. Medicine Bow Fuel and Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of DKRW Advanced Fuels awarded a contract to SNC-Lavalin to provide feasibility studies, front end engineering and design (FEED) services, and turnkey engineering procurement construction (EPC) contractor services for DKRW’s future coal to liquid projects.

Moolarben Coal Project - Australia

The Moolarben Coal Project is a world-class coal asset located 40 km east of Mudgee in the Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales. Felix Resources appointed SNC-Lavalin to undertake the detailed engineering and design and development of procurement packages for the coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP).
The engineering scope of services included process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls.

On this particular project, we also managed the production of shop detailed drawings in our offices as part of our integrated team working directly from the 3D model developed by SNC-Lavalin. This innovative approach improved the quality of pricing from vendor and maintained a fast track approach to procurement and construction and the elimination of detailing errors. 

The aggressive schedule of 16 months was met along with budget and the plant is in full production.  

Raven Coal to Liquids Project - USA

SNC-Lavalin performed the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for a 17,500 bbl/day coal-to-gasoline facility and provide overall project management services for project development up to financial close for the Raven Energy Bond County Illinois Project.

We also provided design services to support a Class II capital cost estimate and establish a site development plan including socio-economic impact assessment and construction planning for this remote site.
