SNC Lavalin’s Global Process Engineering team has an impressive and enviable range of experience with unique and diverse capabilities. We have a proven track record of delivering process engineering services across a wide range of commodities and unit processes including:

  • Ferrous, non-ferrous, base metal and precious metal bench scale and pilot plant test work programmes including identifying, planning, design, supervision and interpretation of laboratory data.
  • Flowsheet selection and development including mass and energy balances, process modelling / simulation, block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams and piping & instrumentation diagrams, technical specifications, design criteria and equipment datasheets.
  • Evaluation and selection of traditional technologies or new and alternative processes at all study stages to determine the viability of new and existing processes.
  • Equipment sizing, specification and selection from large scale iron ore concentrators to pilot plant copper flotation circuits.
  • Processing plant equipment layout and design.
  • Development of technical and functional specifications for process automation and control.
  • Provision of commissioning and start-up expertise, operational auditing and debottlenecking particularly in laterite nickel/cobalt processing, copper flotation and gold/silver carbon in pulp circuits.
  • Access to pressure leaching technologies for all base and precious metals, including autoclave design and applications. Installations include several gold facilities in Nevada as well as facilities for nickel in Australia and New Caledonia.
  • Access to heap leaching technologies particularly for gold and copper projects.
  • Application of solvent extraction technology for the recovery of copper, uranium, nickel, magnesium, vanadium and rare earth elements.
